STOCK SALES.
MATAMATA. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Coy. held its monthly sale at Matamata on Wednesday. The yarding was small and bidding was not as bright as usual. In contradiction to the previous week’s sale the demand for dairy heifers was not keen and many lines were passed in. Prices were :—Fat cows £lO 10s to £l l 2s Gd, fresh-conditioned cows £8 to £9 15s, 15-months steers £6 10s to £6 15s, 24-year steers £9 10s, steer calves £6 10s to £4, calves (mixed sexes) £2 IBs to £B Gs, dairy heifers (good) £ll 15s to £l4, others £8 to £ll ; sheep, fat .mixed sheep (light) 245, fat lambs 21s 9d, store lambs 14s Gd, aged ewes 14s Id ; pigs, heavy porkers £B ss, slips 8s Gd. M9KRINSVILLE There was a large yarding at the Farmers’ Auctioneering Coy’s sale on Friday. Sheep, about 1000 being yarded showed an upward tendency. Stores were dull of sale, a line from the Maukoro estate being passed in. There was a keen demand for calves and prices rose about £1 per head over recent sales. There was not a great demand for dairy cattle, but good animals fetched good prices. A line of 30 Holstein dairy heifers, rising two years, passed in at 10 guineas at the yards were subsequently sold privately for £l2 7s 6d. Prices were : sheep, fat ewes, 26s to 31s 6d ; good woolly hoggets, 19s 3d to 19s 9d; others, 13s Id to 14s Gd; good conditioned ewes, 20s to 235; sound mouth ewes, poor condition, 10s lid to 13s id. Cattle : heavy fat cows, £ll 14s to £l2 7s; lighter sorts £lO 14s to £ll 7s Gd ; fresh conditioned cows, £8 to £9 58 ; .others, low condition, £6 7s Gd to £6 lbs; 2-year steers. £9 10s to £lO 12s; 18 to 20-months steers £7 16s to £8 ; poorer sorts, £6 19s to £7 3s ; best steer calves, £4 to £5 15s ; good heifers £3 10s to £4 16s ; small calves 21s to £2 ; dairy cows 81-to l AA- gns-r - dairy heifers 54 gns to £l2 7s Gd.
