ON THE SCREEN.

“ Sunlight’s Last Raid.” Cyrus Townsend Brady, who wrote “The Island of Regeneration” and many famous novels, is responsible for a splendid story in “ Sunlight’s Last Raid” to be screened at Matamata on Saturday. It is of Western type, but is crowded with new ideas. The mountain scenes are staggering in their realism, and it is a problem to know where such a collection of reckless and skilful horsemen were gathered. The first incident is the hold-up of a train by Sunlight, who is orte of the half-breed Mexican bandits of the low-bowing, hat-lifting type. Tremendous excitement must be felt by everyone who witnesses the attack on the ranch by the band of desperadoes. Mary Anderson gives an almost miraculous exhibition of horsemanship, contriving at the same time to look amazingly pretty. The whole drama is a fine piece of artistry and a credit to the Vitagraph producers. The programme is an exceptionally good one and includes a 1000 ft. comedy, a gaumont graphic, an educational film, a Mutt and Jeff’’cartoon and the eighth instalment of the splendid detective serial “ The Black Box.”
