MILITARY APPEAL.
Sitting of No. 2 Service Board. A sitting of the No. 2 Military 1 Service board —Messrs F. Earl (chairman), F. Hockly and A. Rosser —commenced at Te Aroha on Thursday. Henry A. Teasdale, cheese factory manager, Turanga-o-moana, was appealed for by his employers, the Waikato Co-opera-f tive Dairy Coy., Ltd., as an l essential man. I The board said the National Efficiency board had recommended the exemption of factory managers in view of the necessity for producing butter and cheese. Exemption sine die was granted. Charles A. Scherer, farmer, Waharoa, asked for four months exemption to enable important farm work to be completed. His father attended in support and said one son was on active service with the Main Body. Charles also desired to go soldiering.— Leave till July 19 was granted, the chairman saying the board had great respect for the fathers of Main Body men William A. Brockelsby, a soldier in camp, was appealed for by ' his father, Robert Brockelsby, farmer, Hinuera, who alleged hardship. One brother had returned, invalided, and was now undergoing treatment at Hanmer. He was quite unfit to assist on the farm. Leave till the end of the milking season was desired. Appellant was unable to do ploughing or other heavy farm work. —The board decided to recommend leave from camp until May 28. John H. Yanko, share milker, Matamata, was appealed for by his father, who alleged hardship in view of recent events. —The board decided to reserve decision. Frederick Ward, farmer, Manawaru, was granted sine die adjournment on the usual farmers’ conditions.
