N.Z. FARMERS’ UNION.
Branch Meeting The monthly meeting of the Putaruru branch of the N.Z. Farmers’ Union* was held on Saturday, when over thirty members were present. Mr F. C. Barnett presided. A considerable amount of correspondence was read. ENDOWMENT LANDS. On the motion of the chairman, seconded by Mr Sneddon, it was resolved that a remit be sent to the sub-provincial executive asking that the Government be urged to give the present holders of endowment lands at Putaruru the option of the freehold. The chairman and secretary were also appointed on the motion of Messrs Peters and H. Morse to attend the sub-provincial meeting at Morrinsville to fully explain the conditions Tilling in connection with the lands. AGRICULTURAL LECTURES. k letter from the Education Department, re holding courses of lectures on agriculture, was held over for further consideration at next meeting. NEW MEMBERS. Another batch of names of farmers desiring to. become members was submitted, and when these were elected the secretary, Mr S. McGowan, stated that the branch was now 78 strong. GENERAL. The secretary was empowered to pay all accounts in connection with the recent social. It was decided that the next meeting be held on Saturday, March 30th.
