TIRAU.
Mr and Mrs T. L. Bygfave have been on a visit to the district, being the guests of Mr and Mrs R. Glynn Lewis. ' The rainfall for the month of February, as taken by Mr F. Shannon, at Tirau, was 7.01 inches, which fell on ten days. The heaviest fall was 2.18 inches on February 15th. In view of cabled advice received Messrs Rose Bros., Ltd., have made exceptionally large / purchases of many lines during the past few weeks. This will enable this enterprising firm to supply goods at present rates for some time after coming rises. During last week alone £ISOO of goods were landed at Tirau for this firm. On Sunday evening a youth named John Amoore, residing with his grandfather, Mr Amoore, senior, of Tirau, was found lying on the road near Mr Couborough’s by Mr Couborough, junr., in an insensible condition. He was removed to Mr Couborough’s and medical aid was procured. Dr Carolan found the sufferer in a comatose state suffering from concussion of the brain, probably caused by falling from his horse, the animal being found tied up to a gate some distance away. It was thought that the unfortunate youth had met with foul play and the police were notified. Constable Murphy visited the scene and is investigating the matter. After remaining unconscious for the space of eleven hours, accompanied with convulsions, the patient became sensible. We are pleased to learn that he is progressing favorably, and will shortly be removed to his father’s. Young 'Amoore’s parents reside at Wellington. A little boy called Owen, son of Mr P. G. Amoore, of Tirau, also came to grief by falling from a horse on the sth in si He waS brought to Matamata suffering from dislocation of the elbow Joint and received surgical aid. He is now convalescent.
