MATAMATA SHOW.
Record Entries. Those who were timid about continuing the operations of the Matamata A. and P. Association during war time will probably be gratified, but yet surprised to learn that the entries received by the secretary last week constitute a record for the association. Members have responded to the appeal of the president in enticing entries, while more than the usual number came through the post. In addition the secretary had a surprisingly successful time at the Cambridge show last week, securing over a hundred entries in his few hours there. All sections show an increase, the total entries received up to Monday being just over the thousand as against 900 last year. The entries for the hack and harness horse eveuts are well up to the average, but the biggest increase is noted in the cattle section. The foremost breeders in the Waikato have entered stock, as have also several from outside districts. In consequence of the increase in entries, the engagement of the Hamilton Municipal band, and the whole completeness of the arrangements, the Matamata show to be held on Thursday next promises to be easily the most successful yet held. The young folk will be especially pleased to know that a merry-go-round will be on the grounds
