S.M. COURT.
Matamata—Friday. (Before Mr R. W. Dyer S.M.) A sitting of the Matamata Magistrate's Court was held on Friday last, Mr R. W. Dyer S.M., presided. THREATENING BEHAVIOUR William McCartney, and Whare Peina, charged with using threatening behaviour, did not appear. The police stated that the men had a stand up fight near the hotel at Putaruru, on Boxing Day. Mr W. C. Hewitt appeared for the native, and stated that McCartney was the aggressor. Both men pleaded guilty. They were fined 10s each, with costs 17s; in default seven days imprisonment. UNDEFENDED CASES. Judgment was given for the plaintiffs in the following undefended cases : —Hillary and Gale v. H. R. Brindle £ls ; A. J. Tong v. J. Appleton, £2O 19s 5d ; W. M. Griffiths v. Jack Whara Whara, £3 0s 6d; A. Stewart v. G. Barraket, £l2 7s sd. THE SHEEP DISPUTE. Lengthy typewritten reserved judgment was given in the claim, H. Shepherd v. R. Parker Hill, (for £8 9s) heard last court day. The judgment was for the plaintiff for the full amount, with costs £4 6s.
