Matamata Branch Meeting. The monthly meeting of the Matamata branch of the Farmers' union was held on Friday evening. In the absence of the president Mr J. W. Simpson occupied the chair. Six other members were present. WOOL AND HIDES. A circular from the Prime Minister's office regarding a proposed conference in Wellington to discuss matters affecting the Imperial Government's requisition of wool and hides was read. The Farmers' union was asked to appoint six delegates, three from each island. It was decided that the matter was one for the executive to deal with. GLAXO TRANSIT. Mr C. Green asked for the branch's advice in regard to securing a better means of transporting milk from distant parts to the local Glaxo factory. The railway freight was at present too expensive, yet it was evident that with cheaper carriage the railway transit was infinitely preferable to any other. It was suggested that a deputation of local directors of the N.Z.D.A. wait on the Hon. Minister for Railways on show day, and put the facts before him. NEXT MEETING. In view of the date for the annual show being the day before that set apart for the next meeting it was resolved that the latter be ' held on Tuesday, March 26th.
