STOCK SALES.
MATAMATA. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency held its monthly sale at Matamata on Wednesday, when there was a fair yarding find attendance. Most of the .yarding was sold under the hammer. Trices were: Pigs, sow in pig £2 16s, sow and litter £4 ss, Berkshire boar 2} gns. Sheep : Ewes 18s to 25s 3d, shorn lambs Si -Id to 14s. Cattle: Yearling heifers £5 to £7 ss, fat cows £lO to £ll 13n, stag- £l2 2s Gd, bulls £lO 10s to £l2, dairy heifers £9, 2-year steers £8 17s to £lO 19s. MOEIUNSVILLE. There was a good entry at the Farmers' Aiu'Toneering company's sale at Morrinsvillo on Friday. Beef sold well, but for other lines wero easier. Calves were penned in large numbers and the quality .was good. After the hardening of prices at Tuesday's sale optimistic views were generally held as to the calf market. There was, however, very poor demand, and a large number of pens were pissed in. Trices were : Fat steers £ls 5s to £l7 5s for a lino from Mr F. W. So fert, Tanhci, prime fat cows £l2 15s to £lB 15s, small fat cows and heifers £lO 12s (id to £l2, fresh-con-ditioned cows £9 7s (id to £lO 10s, store cows £7 lis to £8 19s, 2 to 3-year steers £lO 10s to £l2* 13s, 18 months to 2ycar steers £8 to £9 17s 6d, heavy bulls 15 to 17A gns., lighter sorts 11 to 18j gns, smidlbulls of to 9 gns, best steer calves-i'B 2s (id to £3 17s (id, best heifer calves £2 5s to £8 ss, mixed sexes £2 5s to £8 2s Gd, small calves 13s to £2, dairy heifers £8 15s to £l2, fat ewes 255, fat lambs 23s Bd, shorn lambs 12s to 17s, smaller sorts 7s (3d to 10s, sound mouth ewes 28s 2d, old ew( s 7s to Kis, weaner pigs 1 ">s to 19s.
