TIRAU.
A farewell social was tendered ' by the Tirau Patriotic association on Friday last to Mr E. Goodwin, who has just come of age, and is leaving for camp. The evening was devoted to dancing, the only lulls being for supper and for tbe presentation ceremony. Mr J. W. Anderson, on behalf of the residents presented the departing soldier with, a silver wristlet watch inscribed with the recipients' name. Mr Anderson said he had know Tirau's latest recruit for many years, and also his parents. The latter were highly respected, and estimable citizens. He felt sure that their boy would turn out to be a good soldier, and one that Tirau would be proud of. Mr Goodwin suitably responded. Mr M. Harrison has disposed of his Tirau property of 300 acres to Mr G. Seaton, of Dannevirke. The latter takes possession early next month.
Mr J.'S. Allen, late of Cambridge, who recently purchased Mr J. Carnachan's property of 800 acres, is now in possession.
