WALTON.

Mr H. E. Pacey, managing director of the N.Z. dairy association, addressed a fairly well attended meeting of dairymen in the Walton hall, on Wednesday afternoon. It was unfortunate that the meeting was held at the time many farmers were away at the Matamata sale. Mr Pacey spoke at some length, dealing in the dairying matters generally, and pointed out the facilities enjoyed by the suppliers to his company both in the matter of disposing of their butterfat, and also in obtaining goods. The main object of the visit was to discuss the possibilities of arranging to transport milk from the district to the Glaxo factory at Matamata. After going into the matter thoroughly it was at length decided to try as an experiment to send the morning’s milk along by the 9 a.m. train and the evening’s milk to be separated and the cream disposed of in the ordinary way. Several settlers handed in their names as willing to commence as soon as arrangements are completed, it being understood when the weather becomes cooler that the whole supply will probably be taken in one daily delivery. Mr Blackmore stated that he believed that if the farmers would water-cool their milk that there would be no trouble with the delivery of the whole supply once daily. Votes of thanks to the speaker, and to Mr Attwood, who occupied the chair, concluded the meeting.
