TURANGA-O-MOANA.
A SOLDIER’S WELCOME. One of the largest attendances in the Turanga-o-moana hall was that which assembled last week at the welcoming function tendered to Private Roger Maisey. Private Maisey recently returned to New Zealand after having served for about eighteen months with the New Zealand forces. In an. appropriate speech of welcome Mr H. Harding spoke of a long knowledge of the good qualities of the guest of the evening, and stated how pleased the residents were to again have him among them. Mr J. Price (Matamata) expressed himself on behalf of the residents of Matamata in a similar manner. During the evening concert items were rendered by Miss Maisey, Mr and Mrs Welch, Miss Lee (pianoforte solo and recitations) and Mr C. D. Dawson. A very pleasant function was capably controlled by Mr Frank Arnold, M.C. The balance of the evening was devoted to the terpsichorean art, the music for which was played by Mr P. C. Ingham.
