STOCK SALES.
MATAMATA. The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Ltd., held its monthly stock sale at Matamata on Wednesday. The yarding was not up to the average. A steer sold for Mr N. Sutherland realised 10s, Young stock brought more spirited bidding than at the previous sale. Prices were :—Pigs, porkers £3 10s; weaners 19/- to 24/-. Sheep, fat ewes 25/. Cattle, steer calves £2 19s to £3 17s ; mixed calves £3 2s to £4; yearling steers £5 12s 6d to £6 10s; fat steers £l7 10s; fat cows £9 10s to £l2 ss; store cows, £7 17s 6d to £9 4s; 6 dairy heifers, 18 months, £8 10s ; Holstein bull £l6; dairy cows £7 to £lllos. HOPKINSVILLE. There was a fair yarding of stock at the Farmers’ Auctioneering Co.’s sale, at Morrinsville on Friday. Outside buyers were operating extensively. Fat stock, 106 yarded, sold well and stores, 150 penned, maintained late rates. Sheep were easier. The calf market showed a big drop and there was a great difference between the values placed on lines by vendors and purchasers; the yarding numbered 532, but only 65 were sold. There was a small yarding of dairy stock. Prices were Pigs, good weaners 19s to 245, small weaners 12s Od to 17s, porkers 365, choppers £3 Is; Sheep, prime fat ewes 32s 6d, medium fat ewes 26s 6d to 275, others 24s 6d to 255, fat lambs 23s Od to 24s 3d, good 2-th ewes and wethers (mixed) 225, shorn lambs'lbs; Cattle, fat steers £0 16s to £l7 for a lino yarded by Mr W. P. Chepmell, fut cows £2 10s to £l3 7s, medium quality £ll to £l2 4s, lighter sorts £lO to £lO 10s, fresh conditioned cows £8 14s to £9 17s Gd, store cows £6 to £B, yearling Shorthorn heifers £4 7s 6d, choice 18-months heifers in calf £7 19s, cows and calves £9 15s to £lO 7s Od, weighty bulls 12£ to 15 guineas, lighter sorts 9 to 11 guineas, good quality calves (mixed sexes) £4 12s to £4 15s, poorer sorts £2 to £3 3s, cows in milk £9 to £lO 12s Gd, springers £lO 10s to £l2.
