TENNIS.
Mat a mat a Club Formed. A very successful afternoon attended the opening of the Matamala Tennis courts on Satlarge number of tennis enthusiasts of both sexes being present, and sport good. Prior to the opening a strong working bee had been formed, and the courts showed marked improvement as a result of its labors. During the afternoon some good play was witnessed the ladies especially being very keen. The ladies served afternoon tea which was much appreciated. Before the close of the afternoon a meeting was held to discuss the proposed formation of a club and a decision come to in the affirmative. The following officers were elected: Patron, Hon W. H. Herries M.P.; president, Mr E. C. Banks ; secretary and treasurer, Mr G. G. Bell; committee, Mesdames Laurie, Burke, Kusabs and Taylor and Messrs R. Burke, M. McDermott, B. Blennerliassett, Allen and F. Connell, It was decided that the subscription for a lady member be 5s and a gentleman 10s. Intending members were requested to hand in their names to the secretary as soon as possible. It was decided that afternoon tea be provided by the ladies on Saturday afternoons.
