ON THE SCREEN.
" The Flames of Johannis." The programmes beiug submitted by the hall committtee to its patrons continues to find favor as is demonstrated by the large audiences now attending on Saturday evenings. Quite in keeping with the high standard productions is the star film to be screened on Saturday The Flames of Johannis. Theatre goers will remember the sensation that the talented actress, Nance O'Neil, caused when she presented Suderman's famous play, " The Fires of St. John," or, as its original title is " The Flames of Johannis." The author presented a remarkable play of human passion set amid simple surroundings, but with a plot of powerful drama and tragedy. In the screen version to be shown on Saturday, it has been found possible for Miss O'Neil to portray the two parts of mother and daughter —the drunken gipsy and tragic girl, probably the finest acting yet seen on the screen. The programme also includes a 1000 ft comedy and 800 ft of topical budget.
