First to be established
The first Cook Islands Students’ Association is now established at Auckland University on Friday 3 March this year.
The purpose of the Association is to bring Cook Islands students together in order to discuss and to create ways to help themselves within the university circle. The President, Mr Nandy Glassie, has proposed the objects of the Association are: to form a network of communication amongst other university bodies; to form a channel of direct communication between the Cook Islands students and the Cook Islands people in New Zealand, in order to promote further the need for educational interests and encouragement amongst young Cook Islanders. The Cook Islands Students Association do extend membership to non-university students also. The following is the elected executive: President: Nandy Glassie Secretary: James Keenan Treasurer: Andrew Tenata The rest of the students werve as committee members. The membership is made up of both university and technical students and some non-students. The Association is looking forward to its first fund raising social sometime in the first term, and hope to see so many people there.
