The Cook Islands are boasting a new high-quality radio station which has put it one up on New Zealand.
The station, wnich is situated at Avarua, Rarotonga, sends out music in stereo (i.e. high quality F.M. or frequency modulation). Radio stations in New Zealand, in particular Radio Hauraki, have been pressuring the Government here for the okay on F.M. radio, but alas with no success. The ex-
pense of such a luxury radio service is inhibiting the Government have indicated but what New Zealanders are missing out on has come to the Cook Islands for a miserly $ 150.
Mr Brereton, who has been described as an electronic wizard, gives Rarotongans a good selection of stereophonic pop and classical music ten hours a day.
