NATIONAL COUNCIL OF ADULT EDUCATION MAORI/PACIFIC ISLANDER CONTINUING EDUCATION OFFICER The National Council is creating a three-yeaT contract position in this field. The duties are to assist and advise in the development of programmes related to te needs of Maoris and Pacific Islanders, and the Council has identified as priorities: post-school youth, parent education, and cottage industry. The new officer would be expected to work in one or more of these fields. The officer appointed would be based in one of the main North Island urban centres. He/she would have a national advisory role and would also work with local continuing education agencies. The post is likely to require considerable travelling and evening and weekend work. There is no commitment to re-appointment at the end of the threeyear contract period. The salary will be equated to the Grade 2 Technical Institute scale. Conditions of leave, etc., are in line with public service, though the Council is an independent statutory body. Appointees are eligible to join the Government Superannuation Fund. The appointee should take up duties as soon as possible after Ist March 1978. Applicants should write to the Director, National Council of Adult Education, P.O.
