Ali Competition Winners
We have great pleasure in announcing the winners of the Muhammad Ali competition for the Maori section. First prize goes to Jimmy Dale FSOR of Mangere College. Second prize goes to Raewyn TIERNEY F4A2 of Seddon High School. Third prize goes to Josephine Snowden F 3 WM of Hillary Colleege. Tena koutou mo a koutou whakaaro. Kia kaha hapaitia to tatou reo Rangatira. Because of the space we are only able to print the first two winners articles.
First prize winner Jimmy Dale FSOR of Mangere College has sent in this essay about Muhammad Ali. Jimmy is part Maori, his mother being from Te Tai Tokerau tribe. He is sitting School Certificate this year and is expected to fetch high marks in all his subjects, English, Maths, Science, Maori and history. He hopes to go
on to University and to continue Maori language at that level. Ki a koe Jimmy, nga mihi a Mana. He whakatauki na o tupuna “Whaia te kahuranga, kite tuohu koe, me he maunga teitei.”
