New Man for Resource Centre Committee
Mr Phil Patchett, District Community Officer of the Department of Maori and Affairs, has been elected Chairman of the Pacific Islanders' Educational Resource Centre Management Advisory Committee. He took over from Mr Rod Hoggard, member of the Auckland Education Board, who was the -first chairman when the Committee was set up last year.
1 he only new member to join the Committee is the Rev Pehalo Talagi, who recently took over the vacancy left by the late Rev Elisi. The late Rev Elisi suddenly passed away in January this year. The Rev Talagi is the Niuean representative on the Committee and he is the. Niuean Minister in charge of the Pacific Islanders Presbyterian Church at Otara.
The members of the Committee comprise the Chairman. Mr Phil Patchett (Department of Maori Affairs). Mr Rod Hoggard (Auckland Education Board), Rev Pehalo Talagi (Niuean Representative), Mr Steve Niumata (Samoan Representative), Mr Ratu Daniela (Cook Islands Representative), Mr Karl Tu'inukuafe (Tongan Representative), and Mr Joe Teata (Tokelauan Representative).
The Management Advisory Committee is responsible to the Auckland Education Board and the Department oF Education for the policies, plans and in the appointment of staff for the PacificIslanders’ Educational Resource Centre. The Committee meets once a month.
