QUEENSTOWN CRICKET CLUB.

A general meeting was held on 1 hursday •evening, at Bracken's Hotel, Mr Weaver in the chair.

The following report was read by the Hon. Sec.:— REPORT. Gentlemen,—ln laving this statement of the affairs of the Club before you it affords your committee great pleasure at being enabled to report so favorably. Since the 30th September, (on which day our initiatory meeting was held) subscriptions nave come in cheerfully, and your committee are happy to inform you that the CluS now musters over fifty members with every probability of a large increase to that number. The amount of money actuiMy received by the hon. secretary is jC4O 195., of which £32 3s. 4d. has been expended, having a balance of £8 Ids. 3d. to the credit of the Club.

Your committee regret to say that their efforts to obtain cricketing materials in Dunedin wcrs ineffectual; they therefore lost no time in communicating with Mr George Marshall of Melbourne, enclosing a draft for £2O, with a request that he would not delay in forwarding the same, and we are therefore in hopes thai all necessary appliances for the game will be to hand before the close of the month.

A part of the ground has been made in as good a manner as the advanced state of the season would allow and the funds permit; a further contract has also been entered into for clearing an extended portion, which, when complete, (we anticipate by Monday next) will be ample for the requirements of the Club for this season. Your committee have prepared a code of rules for the guidance and general working of the Club, their great aim being as mach brevity as simplicity. The secretary will submit the same to jou; you will then have it in your power either to or modify them, should you consider it necessary. Before concluding, your committee feel in duty \»und, to publicly express their thanks to their brother cricketers of the Atow for their generous response to the request f;r the loan of bats, balls, &c. A letter of thauks has alrendy been forwarded to the lion, secretary of the Arrow Cricket Club, conveying our acknowledgments, in which we feel confluent we have your cordial approval. • Queenstown, November 6, 1863.

The rules were then read and discussed

Proposed by Mr Bradshaw and seconded by Mr Welsh —" That the rules as revised be passed." Carried. The following gentlemen were elected as officers of the Club:—Mr R. Beetham, president: Mr Weaver, vice president; Mr A. Lockhart, treasurer; Mr G. A. Welsh, hon. sec.

A committee of management was appointed, consisting of Messrs. Rees, Chambers, Harris, Horton, Lewis, Whyte, Gibson. A vote of thanks was then passed to the chair and the meeting adjourned.
