♦ Sydney, August 25. Angry altercations took place last eveninig between several members in vestibule of the General Assembly, culminating in a stand up fight between Messrs Tyne and Clark and Shepherd and Dawson. Melbourne August 25. The racehorse Commotion has broken dowu.
The steamship Tagliaferro arrived from Cambridge Gulf, bringing fortyfive diggers. The majority of these had not visited Kimberly, but they generally give unfavorable reports of the field, and urge others not to go there. Adelaide, August 25. A number of men who had been at Cambridge Gulf, intending tq proceed to Kimberley have returned to Adelaide. Brisbane, August 24. The Government have received a telegram from London stating that there is no foundation for the report which has been circulated to the effect that the Imperial Government had promised to introduce a Bill providing for the separation of North and South Queensland.
