Melbourne, July 5. The Premier, Mr Gillies, has forwarded the Governor a communication enclosing a letter received from the Eev. M'Donald, missionary, regarding the state of affairs in the New Hebrides. The Premier urges that the Secretary of State for the Colonies should insist upon the early removal of French forces from the islands. Sydney, July 6. The anniversary of Independence Day yesterday was celebrated by the American residents of this city, the proceedings being most successful.
