LYELL LICENSING COMMITTEE MEETING.
The annual meeting of the above Committee took place at the Court House, Lyell, on Thursday last, all the members being present.
A letter was read from Messrs Junker and Dellavedova, asking for a reduction of their license fee from £5 to £3. After some discussion the Committee decided to refuse the request, as they considered the £5 fee was a reasonable one. The Clerk of the Committee then drew attention to the fact that only one of the applicants for licenses, &c, had filed the application for license in accordance with the provisions of the Act. The Committee thereupon signified their intention of not entertaining any applications for the future unless such provisions were complied with. The police report was then read and adopted. The Committee proceeded to deal with the applications, but before granting them had a discussion as to the advisability of granting 11 or 12 o'clock licenses, and a proposition was eventually unanimously carried to grant extensions of licenses from 10 to 11 o'clock.
Messrs Fennell, Carroll, Mangos, and Mrs Williams were then granted publicans' licenses, and Messrs Dellavedova, Junker, Garbett, and Armstrong accommodation licenses, the three former at £5 and the latter at £l, and John Fennell was granted a wholesale license. This terminated the business.
