[TO THE EDITOR OF THE LYELL TIMES.] Sir, — Will you kindly permit me through your columns to contradict a irmlicious report that has been circulated in this district. It is with reference to a letter that appeared in the Westport Times signed John Hewitt. I am accused of writing the said letter. All that I have to say on the matter is simply this:—That the person who circulated the report is an infamous liar. I defy any person to come forward and state that I knew anything about the letter before seeing it in print. I trust that you "Will excuse the plain language, as I at all times call a spade a spade. Apologising for trespassing on your valuable space, I am &c, • John Campbell.
