Unitii> Al pike.—The battery will cease crushing to-day, and the general cleaningup for the month be made.; after which, the work of dismantling the over shot, and erecting the new driving machinery will be'immediately pushed ahead with. Preparations at the battery, are well forward, and the material .is now being placed-on the ground. In the mine, all are very busy, and there arc a lot ot different works in hand. Th# main rise to No. 4, is through,-and the;top end is now being logged-up. That going -up from ho. 6 is getting on towards'completion, and as the distance required to complete connection, <is nniy about 30 feet, this month should see the work out of hand. Ths stopes are looking well,— those south, are not being driver,-just now. No. 4, going north, hasbeen showing a j little more mullock, but that is cutting 1 out now, and a solid body of stone taking its place. The face at the other end, coming south, shows & splen&id body of quartz 22ft. thick. A little further back, on thc end of the block, they have risen
and commenced No. 5 itope, the reef in which is 12 feet thick, and widening' out at every foot driven. Iron rails are to be laid along the flat tramway connecting with the first paddock. The number of hands in the mine will be reduced ; the men being transferred for a time, to the battery, to assist in helping with alterations.
Tyr Connsll. —No change to report here; everything looking the same as usual, and some of -the stone showing splendid gold. The hands are now extending leading stope on the stene, going south.
Ukitxd Italy.—Tribute r« still risiej ■on, and hlockimg-out leader above tunnel. Tiie stone varies in thickness from six inches downwards, and shows some very good gold. ■UnitJ® Victory.—The trihistere, who number six in all, have operations in full swing here again, and are now blocling- <'}&•£ close t© intermediate. The stone is regular, and in places upwards of n foot and-a-hakf thick: live keiuis running at the battery. CitCEStis. —Work is to be started in this rntne again very shortly, Aecolino and party having taken the preperty on tribute for a .term of 18 months.
