A Cabinet Connoil held to-4ay, decided to make an offer to the Imperial Government for the despatch from New South Wales to Suakiro, within a month, of two batteries of artillery, properly horsed, and a battalion of infantry 500 strong, to form part of the expedition to the Soudan.

Colonel Richardson, Coaimandaat of the New South Wales forces, will take command of the local contingent for Soudan. Lieutenant Colonel Rogers remains in charge here. Captain Lord C. Beresford succeeded in rescuing Sir Charles Wilson, alter a sharp action with the fort below the Shabukli cataract, during which & shot from the fort penetrated the boiler of the steamer under his command, but wbieh was successfully repaired under fire. London, February 11.

The rescue of Sir Charles Wilson by Lord Beresford is considered to be the pluckiest incident of the campaign.
