Friday, February 20.

United Alpine.—Down at the battery everything is going on in the usual style, and tke returns, maintain a highly satisf»ctory average. A contract is in course of execution, for a tail-race between the pit where the tiew whe»l is to stand. and the creek. Repairs, and the. renewal of the head-race, are also being pushed ahead, and tenders close to-day, for the construction of 15 chains of it. The now wheel, is expected to be shipped about the 24th of this month. Inside the mine, all work is going on as usual. That of making good, and re-timbering the rise beiween Nos. 5 and 4 levels, has taken longer than anticipated; however, next week is expected to see it completed. Accolino and party, in the rise from No. 6, expect to finish about the middle of next mouth. The face is now in splendid reefing country.—No. 6 level—South—Nos. 8 and 4 stopes being exteuiled on good-sized widths of stone in this direction.—North —Strike of block in No. 3 ctope has been reached, and No. 4 is now being driven from both ends, on good faces of quartz. Portion of the upper levels, above Mo. 4, has been let to Burns and party, who are now driving on a payable gold-bearing leader, with every prospect of continuation.

Tyr Connell.—There is no change to report here, the hands having been engaged laying i n a good supply of timber. They will now commence a leadiag stope from the foot of the ri»e, and continue the •ame along the leader, up to the present face of tunnel.

Unitxb Italy.—The leader the tributes have been working on. has not wade much in size ; although the country is very promising The stone is being risen on 13 sets baek from the face, after which, it will be blecked-out both ways.
