MINIATURE RIFLE SHOOTING

CANTERBURY ASSOCIATION. PRESENTATION OF PRIZES. Thero was a good attendance at the Working* Men's Club Hall, Oxford Terrace, on Saturday eveninfg when .the Canterbury Miniature Rifle- Association held a social gathering and presented the trophies won ill its winter tournament just concluded. Mx C. it. Walker (Caßhmero C.D.C.) presided. The socretary (Air F. A. Judkins) reported on the groat success that had attended the efforts of the association this winter, both in the teams' shooting and in the individual championship. Tho chairman presented tho challenge cup, given by Mr A. J. Bevan, to the team winners, tho Railway Reserve (Captain M'Connell) and gold medals to tho place-gettera in the individaul championship T. Wilson (Peppler'a R.C.) first, R. Piper (W-M.C. second, and E. Edbrooks (Cashmere C.D.C.) third. ,' , The winners wero heartily applauded. During the evening loyal and other toasts were honoured, among the latter boing the donor of the challengo cup (Mr A. J. Bevan), " The Winning Team," and " Boys at the Front," tho last-named responded to in a speech that was heartily applauded by Sapper F. Chanipness (Main Body). . Items wero contributed by Mesrs Bartlctt, Gilmour, Sutherland, Gapca, Chapman and Tongue

SUMNEE-REDCLIFFS UNIT. Sergeant W. A. Smith, of the Sumnor-Red-oliffs Citizens' Defence Unit, Las presented a "old medal for competition among the members. Private George White has also donated a silver snoon for competition. A handicap competition, three cards each, wrs commenced on Saturday evening, and will bo concluded on Saturday next. The following members of tho Sunincr-Red-cliffs team have been selected to fire against the E Battery Reserve team, en Wednesday next, aL the Kin? Edward Barracks:—J. F. Best, T. Hunter,' G. Cowper, W. G. Roberts, J. H. Cibbs, J. Middlelon, H. Andrews, G. Moon, L. Treleaven, 11. Picrcy and A. H. Hines.
