FATALITY AT NEW BRIGHTON

NINE-YEAR-OLD BOY DROWNED. Shortly after noon yesterday an accident happened at New Brighton which resulted in tho death of David Sturrock, nine years of age, whose parents reside at River Road, New Brighton. Sturrock and five other lads were playing in a boat moored on tho south side of the tramway bridge. The boat got adrift, but the bow came near the shore again, and two of the lads jumped out in shallow water. Young Sturrock wns in the stern and also jumped out, apparently thinking that the water was shallow there. The channel, however, deepens rapidly, and lie sank at once. The other boys were too young to render any assistance.

Up till a late hour last night the body had not been recovered.
