Of the wool presented for sale, that sold for tho Home market totalled 67,000 bales, for export 6000, while 10,000 bales, of which half was New Zealand wool, was held. Prices and competition wero well maintained, although the whole series was characterised by great irregularity. It was wonderful how large a preponderance offaulties were absorbed. Compared with tho July closinf prices, all merino combings, medium and inferior, have broken all records, showing from 71 to 10 per cent advance. Faulty and short carbonising sorts declined from sto 7j per cent. All Econreds wore in tho buyer's favour. Greasy, cross-breds advanced from 5 to 7J per cent, best elipos id to Id. Inferior slir»»s were slightly cheaper,' Scoureds and cross-breds doclined by from Id to 2d, but merino lambo were unchanged l . Cross-breds declined Id. Thero is better feeling throughout tho trade regarding thefuture.
