Of the wool presented for sale, that sold for tho Home market totalled 67,000 bales, for export 6000, while 10,000 bales, of which half was New Zealand wool, was held. The demand in diminishing owing to the approaching closing of the Archangel route. Franoe took a fair quantity. Fine crossbreds closed firm. Prices and competition wero well maintained, although the whole series was characterised by great irregularity. It was wonderful how large a preponderance offaulties were absorbed. Compared with tho July closinf prices, all merino combings, medium and inferior, have broken all records, showing from 71 to 10 per cent advance. Faulty and short carbonising sorts declined from sto 7j per cent. All Econreds wore in tho buyer's favour. Greasy, cross-breds advanced from 5 to 7J per cent, best elipos id to Id. Inferior slir»»s were slightly cheaper,' Scoureds and cross-breds doclined by from Id to 2d, but merino lambo were unchanged l . Cross-breds declined Id. Thero is better feeling throughout tho trade regarding thefuture. Apprehension as to tho Government's action in tho colonial markets is causing hesitation, but thero is no fear of a serious collapse in values. Colonial importers ar» demanding improved shipping facilities from tho colonies. Tho following prices were realised for tho New Zealand clips named: Kaputane, top 83d, average 31 Ja: Gear, top 22d, average 21 Jd; Tikapu, top 19id, overage 18j|d. LONDON, September 23. WHEAT. Wheat is less depressed. MISCELLANEOUS. Hemp is unchanged. Rubber—Para 3s 3Jd, Plantation 2a sd, smoked 2s id. RABBITS. Rabbits arc linn and tho demand is slowly improving. FROZEN MEAT. New Zealand mutton, Bjd to Ojd 1 ; Australian, SJd; South American, 8d 'to BJd. Lamb: New Zeaiand and Australian, lOd; youth American. BJd to 9jjd. LONDON TALLOW MARKET.
