SOLDIER DIES ON PATEENA. [Pee Prbss Asbooathht.] 4 WELLINGTON, September 23. \ Sergeant John Wood, on leave front Hanmer, died on the Pateena-en route from Lyttelton this morning. He had been unwell during the night, and was found dead on one of the hatches at six o'clock this morning. His next of kin is Mrs M. Wood, of Mornington, Dunedin. ' . [Fnosi Our Coebespondekt.] DUNEDIN, September 23. Sergeant John Wood, who died on the Pateena, was for many years secretary of the Otago Early Settlers' Association. He had obtained leave from Hanmer Springs to go to Wellington to see his son. who is a member of a reinforcements draft.
