"WELLINGTON, September 21

An interesting question recently was raised by a local body in the provincial district of Wellington, said the Minister of Internal Affairs to-day. The question was as to the right of a German or of a New Zealand resident born in Germany to retain his seat on the cctenty council of tho district. The matter was reforred to the Minister and lie has replied that there is no provision of law under which the member referred to can bo deprived of his seat on account of the fact of his having been born in Germany. In the particular ease in question the member. of tlie county council had been naturalised in New Zealand a, number of years.
