LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTIONS. An election for seven members to servo as commissioners on tlie Hampstead Town Board took place yesterday, and in view of an agitation which has been going on for somo considerable tjmo past for greatly improved footpaths, side channelling and streets, etc., very keen interest was taken in the matter. A poll was also taken in respect to tho raising of a loan of £7OOO for the purpose of carrying out the suggested improvements. J. Cunningham . 142 R. F. Lewis - . 141 A. Megson ... 57 The first seven were .declared elected. The result of the polling on the Joan question was 109 against the proposal and 86 for it. The proposal was therefore defeated. TINWALD TOWN BOARD. An election also took place for five members to serve as commissioners on the Tinwald Town Board.
