MINIATURE RIFLE SHOOTING
CHRISTCHURCH INDIVIDUAL CHAMPIONSHIP. WON BY- RIFLEMAN T. BROWN. The individual miniature rifle shooting championship of Christchurch, _ under the auspicoo of the Canterbury Miniature Rifle Association, was decided last night, on the Chester Street range, and resulted in a win for T. Brown, captain of Peppler’s Club, who was tho only competitor to scoro 70, tho possible number of points. The competition drew the reoord ontry of eighty riflemen, representing fourteen clubs, and it created very great interest. On tho whole, tho shooting was not so good as that shown "in tho teams matches, and several consistent scorers failed to reach form last night. There were seven range .officers, nnd tho timo limit was strictly enforced. Arrangements worked splendidly, and the whole competition reflected the greatest credit on too executive and officials. Tho principal sdbres are as follow: T. Brown (Peppler’s) . - . .70 R. Piper (Working Men’s Club) . .69 H. Edbrookc (Cashmere C.D.C.) . . 69 Piper and Edbrookc tied, and Pipor won in too shoot-off. The first and second men are to receive gold medals, nnd the executive is to decide whether Edbrooko is also entitled to one. The following made GS each: —Lane, Hislop, Wardle, Hales, M’Dowell, Peek, Wilson and Thomas.
