ST JOHN AMBULANCE ASSOCIATION.
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The committee of the St John Ambulance Association met last night, Mi A. E. G. Rhodes presiding. A letter was read from St John’s Gate stating that tho insignia of an honorary associate could not bo forwarded in tho case of the late Colonel C. E. Thomas, of Timaru, as he had not lived to sign the oath of allegiance to tho order. Tho president said that the special circumstances might be considered, and ho would write Homo privately. Colonel Crcswell said that a deputation had waited on the Metropolitan Trotting Ciub, which had voted £IOO for the. motor ambulance. The Agricultural and Pastoral Association had declined to vote anything. The C.J.O. nad promised £3OO. The president said that the Agricultural and Pastoral Association was in live position this year of having earmarked all its funds. In reply to a question, the president said that even if the motor ambulance given by a Christchurch gentleman to the Government should bo returned, Christchurch could always do with two ambulances. The s‘ub-committeo was asked to ascertain the cost of an ambulance. The secretary stated that a request had been received from Brunnerton for permission to. form a sub-centre, and ho had referred the matter to the \Vcst Coast organiser. A class o. itakaia ladies desired a course in lionu nursing and hygieno. and Nurse Whitiver had consented to go down on Monday.
