Tho following letters of appreciation from New Zealand soldiers in France were received by the Lady Liverpool Fund Committee bv the last mail: — “ On behalf of the officers and men of the First Battalion of tho Third New Zealand Rifle Brigade, it is my duty, as it is my pleasure, to express our gratitude for the gifts from your committee which were handed round to-day. "Wo are fully conscious of the great efforts your committee has made to get together so many useful bundles, and if you could have seen them counted from tho boxes into 1 sand-bags carried right to the front line trenches, and handed to the brave hoys who are s', noblv doing their duty, you would have felt in a small measure rewarded for your trouble.—l am. etc., Clement Houchen, Church of England Chaplain, Ist Bn. 3rd N.Z.R.8.” “ Very many thanks for the parcel of gifts, milk, sardines, tongue, soap and writing tablets which reached me this morning, from your society. Every man in my company received a similar parcel and much appreciated the contents, and also the kind thoughts which prompted the dispatch of the parcels. The general health of our troops is quite satisfactory, and during the summer season the climate agrees with them all. Again thanking you. —I remain, vours, etc., C. We have been thirty days in the firing-line, and the contents of the parcols wore much appreciated. They contained those articles tho men wore most in need of, and were a pleasant break in our limited assortment of rations. It was grand to see the many smiling moil around tho cook-house making cocoa and dainty dishes. Could you have seen the happy faces you would have felt that your uoble work was doing much to cheer tho soldiers’ lot. cerely yours, J. Cbivers, Lieut. ' The parcels, which contained milk, socks and other useful articles, wore highly appreciated by everyone. It is not the gift itself, but it shows tho ladies of tho Dominion are doing their best for us. Wc wish to thank Lady Liveroool and all members of the. committee for the good work thov are doing to help us, and we hope this sort of~thing will happen every * Sunday.—From Some Lonely Anzacs, 4th 'Platoon.
