J MOTOR-CAR ACCIDENT. ! FALLS FORTY FEET INTO GULLY. SEVERAL PEOPLE BADLY HURT. [Per Press Association.] NELSON, January 4. Yesterday morning a serious motorcar accident happened on the Moutere j Hills, whereby several members of a I party, comprising Mr and Mrs W. A. i Dee and their one-year-old son and Mr ] and Mrs Albert Dee and their family, in all eight persons, sustained more or less serious injuries. • In taking a curve the car went over the side. of the road and fell into a gully about 40ft deep, turning two somersaults. The occupants were thrown in all directions. The children had a miraculous escape, but all the adults were injured. Those most seriously hurt were Mrs \Y. A. Dee, who had several ribs fractured besides serious internal injuries; Mrs A. Dee, left leg and right ankle broken; Mr W. A. Dee, right shoulder badly bruised and his collar-bono broken ; and Mr A. Dee, left hip badly bruised. Several doctors went to the scene and attended to the injured, who were Brought to Nelson.

Henry Hollings, a young man in the employ of Mr W. J. Webb, fell off a load of wool at Dunsandel yesterday, and the dray passed over his leg, breaking it above the knee. Dr Coates, of Rakaia, attended Hollings, who was removed to the Cliristchurch Hospital. James Terry, living at Burke Street, Addington, was admitted to the Hospital yesterday, suffering from injuries to the head. He was opening boxes at the International Harvester Company's store when a crowbar he was using slipped and inflicted a sorer© cut.. He was treated at the outpatient's ward. While amusing some children with crackers on New Year's Eve Mr P. L. Orr, of Ashburton. injured his eyes, owing to a cracker exploding prema-' turely in liis hand and shooting into his j face. ' I
