RAIN IMPEDES OPERATIONS. ALLIES ACTIVE AT MANY POINTS. FRENCH RAIDS IN ALSACE. By Telegraph—Pimi Association— CopyrigEt. PARIS, January 3. A communique states:—We maintained all our new position between the sea and Lys. The enemy's sole activity was a violent bombaydment at Zonnebeke. We progressed five hundred metres at La Boiselle. Artillery demolished the German works on the Nouvron plateau!. We progressed three hundred metjres towards Perthes-los-Hurlus, and inflicted heavy losses on the Germans at Beau Sejour. Wo progressed in a wood near Troyon, also in Le Pretre Wood. We captured a trench at Celles, north of St Die, and bombarded ' a German train at Altkirch. To tho south-west of Altkirch we damaged the railway. The relaxation of our offensive is attributable to heavy rains 6oaking the soil and making operations everywhere almost impossible. Heavy artillery engagements continue in many parts of the front.
