RABBITS AT RAKAIA.
TO THE EDITOE. . J Sir, —I have noticed in your column* during the last few days letters fromlandholders in the liakaia district-,, pointing out that rabbits havo iff-' creased enormously lately. That may be so, and it is of course very m.uch to be regretted, but perhaps there is an aspect which has not occurred to > many of your readers who are interested in the matter. It is only on the lighter land that rabbits are-seen- in such numbers, and as this country ,is for the most. part, in large holdings, the cost cf exterminating them is too large in proportion, to the receipts from the country. If the Department 1 does make a raid on this district ..I fancy there are a number of farmers who will have their already limited incomes dwindle down to almost vanishir/i point.—l am, etc..
