' <► KAIAPOI CLUB’S ROAD RACE. The Kaiapoi Cycling Club held a seventeen-mile road race on Saturday afternoon. The course was from the corner of High and Fuller Streets, through Flaxto-n, Southbrook, Rangiora and Woodend, finishing at the Beach lload. A strong wind was blowing, and the bad roads made riding very hard. Nevertheless, last /times were registered by P. O’SheaVand A. Bonis. Twen-ty-seven riders started, and all but three finished. Mr W. Stark was timekeeper, Mr H. Williams starter and Mr J. A. Healings handicapper. The following was the result:—P. O’Shea (ser), 1; E. Dass (2n:in), 2; H. Long (4min), 3; E. Waller- (4inin), 4; A. Bonis (scr), 5. O’Shea also gained fastest time off scratch, taking 37min 22sec to do the distance. A. Bonis was the fastest unplaced rider. O’Shea and Bonis caught six other riders when about two hundred yards from home, and O’Shea won in the i sprint by twelve yards.
