ALLEGED LIBEL.

CASE AGAINST “ OHAKUNE TIMES,” [Pxn Piuass Association.] TAIHAPE, February 28. Writs of an alleged libel have been served on P. J. Dunne, proprietor and editor of tho “ Ohakune Times,” and on A. A. Mathan (dairyman of Ohakune), on behalf of A. H. Wilkie, land agent, Ohakune. Tile plaintiff is claiming £250 damages in each case. The alleged libel was contained in a letter signed “ A. A. Mathan,” which appeared in the “ Oliakuno Times,” and contained assertions to the effect that it seemed strange that Councillor Wilkie should challenge the Mayor to a bout of fisticuffs, and that the rateEayers expected something better from im, also that it appeared a strange attitude for a Justice of the Peace to adogt.
