PRESBYTERTAL VISITATION AT

LYTTELTON

The Christchurch Prebytery held the triennial visitation of St John’s Presbyterian Church. Lyttelton, on Thursday. ; The Presbytery, represented bv tho Rev Hr Erwin, Rev Iliomas Al’D'onald and Air Tulloch, met, the office-bearers and minister of the church in the vestry at 7 p.m. Captain R. Hatchwell, Air A. Henderson, Air Fred Anderson and Air R. Law represented tho Kirk Session, and Alessrs Preston, Bruce, Young, Wendleborn. F.albam and J. Wilson and Captain Wallace represented tho Board ot Managers. Tho Rev T. At’Doriald, after opening the meeting with prayer, put the usua questions to the minister, session and managers. Captain Hatcliwcll, Session Clerk, answered for the Elders, and Air Fred Anderson for tho managers. The answers elicited facts which proved the clinrgo to be in a very sound state spiritually and financially, and _ that pastor and pcoplo worked liarinoniously together. The finance of the congregation had decreased owing to tho recent strike, a flower show, sale of woyk and New Year's Dav luncheon having 1o bo abandoned. It was expected, non ever, to make good all losses by a sale of work to bo held on Alareli 20. Air Anderson reminded tho Presbytery that it would bo fifty years in Alay since the foundation stone of the Lyttelton Presbyterian Church had been laid, and that the congregation expected the co-operation of the Presbytery in the jubilee celebrations which it proposed holding in February, 1915. In the evening the Commission met the congregation in the church. Miss Hatchwell was organist, and a short service was conducted by the convener. Addresses of a helpful nature were delivered by tho Rev T. M’Donald, Dr Erwin and Air Tulloch. *
