A. AND P. ASSOCIATIONS.

ASHBURTON. A well-attended, meeting of the general committee of tho Ashburton Agricultural and Pastoral Association was held on Wednesday afternoon, when tho president, Mr A. Drummond, presided. A letter was read from Messrs T. and S. Morrin (Christchurch), applying for space for an exhibition of farm implements at tho autumn show, which was granted free subject to the class of implement being approved by tho Association. A.letter was also re,ad from the Governor’s private secretary, stating that his Excellency would not be able to be present at the show, as lie would be in the North Island at the time. The Department of Agriculture wrote agreeing to make an exhibit at the show, which would probably be a comprehensive one. Tho Department also stated that'the weed forwarded for identification was that known as Toad Elax (linaria vulgaris). It was not harmful in chaff as far as feeding purposes were concerned, but it would spoil any sample of seed. Mr C. Reid was re-appointed the Association’s representative on the Board of Governors of tho Technical Classes Association, and ivas accorded a vote of thanks for his past services. It was reported that the tender of Mr Thomas at £l6O had been accepted. for the erection of additional horde stalls, cattle feed boxes and sheep pens on tho show grounds. vitation to a squad of thirty of tho Tornuka Senior Cadets as guests'of the Association at tho autumn show.
