CHRISTCHURCH REGATTA

Following on the' success which attended the Christchurch Regatta he'd at Corsair Bay, Lyttelton,_ last year, the committee has again decided to hold the annual function in the port, and elaborate preparations are being made for to-morrow. Large entries have been received for all the events, including crews from Port Chalmers and Wellington, and the racing should be very interesting. Should the weather be unfavourable to tho holding of the regatta at Corsair Bay the committee has selected a course at Purau as an alternative, An inspection was made of the Purau site yesterday, and although it would have been impracticable to hold the function at Corsair Bay, a visit to Purau showed tho water to be smooth and well suitable for boat racing. Launches will run to the course at frequent intervals.
