Acceptances for the Akaroa County Racing Club’s’ meeting will close to-day at the office of the Canterbury Jockey Club. Nominations for r the Great Eaßter and Great "Autumn Handicaps will close’ at the office Of the Cauterbury Jockey Club tonight, at nine o’clock. Sinapis, who. won the' Wanganui . Cup yesterday, has raced with considerable success this season. She came prominently under notice by her success in the New Zealand Cup, and since then slio has also placed tho Tauhcrenikau Handicap and the Wellington 1 Racing Club Handicap to the credit .of. her owner. Pavlova, the winner of the Flying Handicap at the Wanganui Jockey Club’s meeting yesterday, was bred by Mr J. F. Reid, being, by Charlemagne 11. from Stepka, by St Lcger—Stepfeldt. Pavlova has done very little racing, but she cxeated a good impression by her success a few weeks ago in the Trial Plate, at the summer meeting of the Wellington Racing Club. White Cockade is again- an inmate of R. Longley’s stable at Riccarton, and looks well after his long spell. Ho will be prepared fob jumoing races later in the year. Several horses with engagements at the Akaroa County Racing Club’s meeting are suffering from soreness or other troubles, which will probably keep them from racing for the present.
