[Per Press, Association.] .''•:■ HAMILTON,- February 25. : John .William , Shannon,., railway fireman, a native of. fielensville,, ' was killed: at Frankton station to-day. He was assisting in shunting trucks, and was in the act of coupling two trucks when the engine-driver shunted backand Shannon was crushed. He died in a few minutes. He had, only been in the service for a few months. motor-car Accident. [Per Press Association.], a > TIMARU, February 25. ' Mr Howitt; a fa rmer,' '■. of. Crickle-: wood, was pinned down by his motorcar capsizing on him a mile cut of the town,, on his way>home. He was recently vaccinated, preparatory to a trip to England, and his arm was so painful that he could only steer with one hand. [From Our Correspoxdext.] WAIMATF., February 25. Whilst frolicking during play-time this afternoon, at the Waimate Public School, a> little girl named Joyce Graham fell arid'broke her right leg. She was attended at once. She is a daughter of Mr W. . Graham, late of Beath's, Christchurch.. TRAM ACCIDENT. Shortly after- three o'clock yesterday afternoon a man named Edward Barrett was knocked down by an electric tramoar near the Terminus. Hotel, at the corner of Manchester Street and Moorhouse Avenue, lie was taken in an ambulance to the Hospital, where his injuries, which were not serious, were-attended to. Yesterday a man ' named Charles Lavatt, living at Highstead Road, Papanui, was attended at the Hospital for a severed artery, caused, by an accidental cut while killing sheep.- H© was quickly attended to and was able to return home.
