The " Petit Journal" reports that an attempt was made to wreck a train in Egypt conveying Lord Kitchener and guosts to the Minieh racecourse. Several heavy pieces of timber were placed on the track at a sharp turn and the driver with difficulty averted a disaster.

The Khedive's brother and members of the diplomatic corps also were on the train.
