Tho ironworkers' dispute was discussed at a Cabinet meeting, but it was entirely overshadowed by the meat strike.

If the trouble spreads not only foundry employees, but builders and bricklayers, and carters will be involved by tho end of the week. The Employers' Association has forwarded a letter to Mr Holman to the effect that any proposal for settlement will have to be made for the whole body of strikers. The masters will have no piecemeal settlement. It is estimated that six foundries are affected, and 8000 men are idle.

THE POSITION UNALTERED. (Received February 26, 12.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, February 25. The position with regard to the iron trades strike is' unaltered.

To-morrow Mr Justice Heydon will consider the possibility of reopening the award over which the trouble occurred.
