Sir Stuart Samuel, M.P., is appealing against the judgment of the Court of King’s Bench in favour of Bird, a common informer. (Last week the Court of King’s Bench awarded William Bird, a common informer, £13,000 and costs against Sir Stuart Samuel, M.P., the amount representing the aggregate penalties for voting in the House of Commons while contractor for the supply of silver to the India Office. Judge Rowlatt, under a statute of the year 1801, awarded £SOO for each of twenty-six votes, but granted a stay of execution. The plaintiff pointed out that an indemnity Bill was proposed. He asked that the money should be paid into Court.. The application was refused.)
